AuthorTanya Soni
Choosing a small home is a great idea for a small family but one of the most difficult things to do in small homes is designing a kitchen. Being one of the most utilized rooms, kitchen needs to be fully functional and well organized. You can incorporate a great looking kitchen in your small and lovely house with many ways but an open kitchen is best out of them.
In today’s times, when people prefer to live in nuclear families, it is the turn of small and modest
homes having open kitchens instead of larger properties. We are sure that you will love the
open kitchen ideas that we are going to provide you.
Counter Bar instead of dining table
If you don’t have space for a dining table in your home, then go for a counter bar. Place 3-4 chairs near the kitchen counter, then it will act as a dining table for your family. Don’t choose large chairs. Instead, opt for low seating that doesn’t diminish visually from the room.
Make Some Space
In an open kitchen, keep some space between the cabinets and ceiling, then you will get some storage space. Store the lesser used tools in that space. Just make sure, you have a rolling ladder to access them at the time of need. Also, reduce your kitchen stuff to the minimum and then you will see how much space you actually have.
Subway Tiles
Use Subway tiles all around your open kitchen. These tiles will help the small space look wider. A subway tile is a rectangular tile that fits together in a particular pattern creating a beautiful array of uniform lines.
Skip Large Hardware
Don’t use the large hardware on your cabinets and drawers. In that way, your kitchen space will look more well-organized and smooth. Also, minimize the decor in the kitchen. The minimal the decor, the bigger it will look. If you still have a desire to decorate it, use plants. They will make everything feel happier.
Create your Own Storage Space
Don’t stress away if you have very less space in your kitchen. Put up a few shelves and place some stools directly below the shelves and this way you can create your own storage corner on a nearby wall in your house. You will have a place to put your cake stands, kitchenware etc. You can also stack some snacks on these shelves.
Keep Everything White
White means brighter. Keep everything whiter and then add in pops of color by using colorful kitchenware. White will make your space feel larger. Add contrast and necessary storage by using wooden shelves.
Add a Rug
If you feel that you can’t do much with that uncomfortably small space in your kitchen then you should add a rug. A rug will add color and pattern in your kitchen and warm it up.
Gallery Style Kitchen
Gallery style kitchen lacks counter space but you can make up for it by dividing the space into different areas like a separate area for preparation, an area for cooking, an area for serving the food and so on.
Get a Kitchen Island
Place a kitchen island and make sure it has got as much storage as possible. A number of cabinets, towel racks, storage racks are must beneath the island.
Pot Rack
Install an Industrial Pot Rack and save your valuable space from bulky pans. It’s functional and will give your kitchen a stylish look.
Copper Shelving
Low on cupboard space? Don’t stress. Install Copper Pipe Shelving that has shelves to stack dishes, hooks for hanging mugs and it will look super chic.
Functional Kitchen Island
If your kitchen has less space, then probably you won’t have enough room for a kitchen island and a breakfast corner. Go for an island that will do double work. Use it as counter space for preparing food and then eat at it.
Use Mirror
Want to enlarge a small kitchen? Use the mirrored glass on cabinet doors. Mirrors always make a room look larger. You can also hang one up in your kitchen. If it doesn’t seem a good idea for you, then try it on your backsplash.
Backless Stools
To save more space, use backless stools that you can slip under the counter. Unify the room by
choosing a color that will blend in with your island.
So try these tricks, they will help you make the most of your counter space and cabinetry.
